Billy: How are you Chris?
Chris: Doing good. Just working on some new London Exchange tracks for the upcoming record.
Billy: That sound great. When will the new record be out?
Chris: The later part of 2020.
Billy: You guys have a big following here in New Orleans. How did that come about?
Chris: The band played a good bit in NO in the late 80’s and early 90’s. From the Palladium to the teen clubs, we played it all.
Billy: “Memories of You” was such a big hit here. I remember being at the teen clubs and sock hops and dancing to it. Such a great song that really stands the test of time. At the time did you know it would be so big for you guys?
Chris: I knew we had a hit but didn’t really know it until I would hear from the DJ’s that it was being requested so many times daily.
Billy: The show in NO in the fall of last year was great. How was it being back in NO for you guys?
Chris: It was great. To be back in such a great city where we have a large fan base was great, We got to see many friends from over the years. Many who were with us from the beginning. Such a great time and fun night.
Billy: Great show for me also. I really enjoyed your set list and hanging out with you guys after the show. What can fans expect in 2020?
Chris: We are working on the new record as we speak. It will be out later this year. We are also planning a few shows and possibly one back in New Orleans.
Billy: What else do you have going on?
Chris: Well with this social distancing that everyone is doing, I have been hosting an acoustic jam from my house. It is every Friday night and I play for over an hour. London Exchange, my solo stuff, and covers. It’s a lot of fun and helps everyone relax and get their minds off of this difficult time.
Billy: Yes, I have really enjoyed the shows. It has been a nice break and music is the ultimate healer in my opinion. Well Chris thanks for your time. I enjoyed our talk and look forward to your next acoustic show. You want to share how everyone can find your show?
Chris: Yes. Friday nights at 9 EST on my Facebook page. Christopher Phipps. Hope to see everyone there. Thanks Billy for the interview.
